48 breath-taking switchbacks and 1,869 m elevation gain on road bike – this is the legendary Passo Stelvio.
On this day, the road leading to the highest Italian Alpine pass – 2,758 masl – will be closed to motorized traffic and open to cyclists only!
The specs
- roads will be closed to traffic and reserved exclusively for cyclists from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
- we recommend riding clockwise
- take enough clothes with you: the weather and the temperature on top of the pass may be different from down at the start
- begin the tour with a slow and steady pace: you may need the saved energies above 2.000 m of height
- cycle carefully down: the asphalt has little grip
- it is compulsory to take the ID card or the passport with you to cross the border to Switzerland
